blogosphere attributionAfter hearing from Jason and Fabienne (the blogger who was accused of link improprieties), I have to conclude that there was indeed an error with either Blogniscient or Technorati.

While I DO believe this was an error and Fabienne was in no way responsible for the issue, there are still bloggers who pretend to link but don’t.

I hope they see the blogosphere’s reaction to this ‘attribution scandal’ and mend their theiving ways. …I’m not holding my breath though.

So, apologies to Jason Calacanis and Fabienne Serriere. Thanks for giving us such a great and rapid response!

hey hey…. no worries. we wouldn’t have been around two years, with tens of millions of page views and readers a month, 160+ bloggers, etc. if we didn’t do things right.

we learned early on that this was an important issue and there was a discussion about it (not a top down directive :-) , and the result was that everyone gives credit all the time.

People can make a mistake and give one person credit when in fact another person got to it first, but those are easy to fix (if the person lets us know), and at the end of the day if you’re breaking news on a regular basis you’ll get credit most of the time.
