When I first saw Spot Runner a few months ago, I was blown away. Their base price of roughly $500 for creation of a professional commercial is a steal for small business.

Small businesses normally have to settle for commercials made locally, usually by the cable company. These ads scream amateur (and not in that cool, user gen way, but in that ‘Grandpa filmed me in my office kinda way) and I feel like they do more harm than good. But, Spot Runner is an ala carte ad company, and you can choose from the type of commercial you want, with plenty of previews, and they’ll add in your name and information to customize the ad for your local market.

Here’s the details on their VC:

Web based ad production company Spot Runner has announced it has raised $40million in investment capital.

Sniffing an obvious opportunity investors include both WPP and Interpublic. Lachlan Murdoch is also rumoured to be involved.

This investment deal comes only 10 months after the launch of Spot Runner, which already has 125 people on staff.

Spot Runner’s ads are as professional and engaging as any I’ve seen. I’m so happy to see this great idea got some needed cash infusion.
