Working on a project with a PR firm can be fun, but not being able to disclose what you are doing due to NDAs is annoying. I’m looking forward to sharing with you what I am currently doing at some point in the future, though those of you who are not involved in virtual communities or gaming in general are less likely to care, honestly.
About a year ago I worked with a company that was doing some exciting stuff, advertising-wise, and again I wasn’t able to share it (still am not). I think companies sometimes shoot themselves in the foot with NDAs.
Have you ever been hampered by an NDA from disclosing something very cool? I can think of at least half-a-dozen times this year where I have had this happen.
My usual problem with NDA’s is not that they don’t let me disclose information about what I’m working on — I believe maintaining confidentiality is a professional and ethical responsibility — it’s that I can’t tell people (especially prospective clients) whom I have worked even in general terms without prior approval.
I know, I have had some cool clients and I’d like to talk about some of what we’ve done. 🙁
