Kweschun Is a Hit

What is Kweschun? Well, even Chris Nolan didn’t say, though he’s overly tired from coding, and probably from playing around with eh list. He promises to post further soon.

My thoughts are:

  • the sign-up process is easy and the movement, on screen (Ruby?) is pretty
  • by clicking on advanced I was able to write a good description for my Kweschun
  • tags (I <3 tags)
  • allows preview because once someone answers your Kweschun, there’s no more editing
  • drag and drop answers (very cool)

Here’s a mash-up of the Canadian election, and there’s a nice sampling of user-createds on the site as well.

My only problem with Kweschun so far is that it’s not the prettiest font/design out there, but I guess that doesn’t really matter. Functionality seems on the mark and I’ll probably add Kweshun to my blog tools. Interesting concept for social users, and aren’t we all social…? I’m going to play with it more and probably post on it later this weekend on the Social Networking blog.

I did go ahead and post a question of my own. Click the screenshot to answer it. I chose to allow others to add their own answers, I may regret that (kinda like the Washington Post huh?). But, I’m a risk taker 😉

  1. Robyn,

thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts! The onscreen ‘pretty’ is more from the ‘scriptaculous’ library than from Ruby but I’m glad you like it. It was a bit prettier on the signup initially until I realized it cause the signup form to disappear for some safari users so it’s been trimmed back for the time being (and I won’t mention the ugly that some IE users are seeing… whoops!).

You’re right that the font/design side isn’t all that super, I had to decide were to focus at the start. Plus, I hope it to be more of a blogger tool than a destination so then the blogger will be able to style their kweschun which what ever fits their theme.

Choosing to allow users to leave their own answers is a bit brave, but I think is one of the really powerful parts of it. Who’s to say the person creating the kweschun has all the answers, heck if they did they wouldn’t be asking in the first place so by getting the users themselves to give a choice that wasn’t thought of can really enable the wisdom of crowds.

  2. I didn’t even think about integration into blogs… ::slaps forehead:: Makes sense. I’m looking fwd to seeing that. I can imagine a kweschen spot in the sidebar of my blog, maybe like a poll… very cool. 🙂
